We continue to see new wildflowers blooming in our yard! Our latest wildflower excitement is that one of our Mexican Evening Primroses has been blooming almost daily since April 3. Unlike their cousins the Tufted Evening Primroses (which have white flowers), Mexican Evening Primroses have medium-pink flowers. 🌺
Yes, I continue to enjoy listening to our Avian Chorus every time I step outside. The Lucy’s Warbler section of our Avian Chorus has been especially vocal recently! David Sibley describes Lucy’s Warbler songs as sweeo sweeo seet seet seet seet sit it it it it and I’d say that accurately describes what I’m hearing. Here’s a nice recording of a Lucy’s Warbler song. And speaking of Lucy’s Warblers…
Regarding my Perpetual Journal art from 2023, we’ve also seen a few Emerald Moths on our patio this Spring. I love their green color!
😃 Happiness Update
You may remember that a few weeks ago I mentioned that March 20 was the International Day of Happiness, a day created by the non-profit group Action for Happiness. Action for Happiness has excellent resources on its website and I highly recommend looking at their Calendar page, which lists a new, simple action to take each day that can help increase happiness. I look at that page every morning! 🤗
For example, yesterday’s Action for Happiness was Get active in nature. Feed the birds or go wildlife-spotting. Gotta love it!!!
The Action for Happiness app provides these same simple daily actions along with other inspiring messages and connection to a like-minded community.
And if you want a deeper dive into the subject of happiness, I recommend reading Action for Happiness’ 10 Keys to Happier Living.
Happy reading! 😁
