A Tiny Post About a Tiny (But Cheerful) Subject
—More of My Perpetual Journal Art
Today I have a tiny post about a tiny subject: Bladderpod flowers.
Bladderpods were some of the earliest wildflowers to bloom in our yard this year. We saw the first Bladderpod flowers over 6 weeks ago and are still seeing some today!
The flowers are small (less than 1 cm. wide) and the plants, at least in our yard, are around 15 cm. tall. They’re cheerful dots of color in our yard—where I’m happy to see any native wildflowers, no matter how large or small!
Here’s a Bladderpod I illustrated in my Perpetual Journal, drawn about 4 times life-size.
Bladderpods get their name from their fruit—round orbs that pop if you press them between your thumb and forefinger. No, I haven’t tried popping any! 😊
