🎺 Doot, do-do-DOOOOO! That’s the trumpet fanfare of success—announcing that during the week of September 24-30, 2024, I started Year 3 of my Perpetual Journal! 🥳 That means that every week for the past two years, I created art and text for my Perpetual Journal!!! Go me! 🎉
Here’s the first week of Year 3 in my PJ. You see this page contains art & text entries from 2022, 2023, and 2024!

To celebrate my milestone, I created this video showing all 52 pages of my Perpetual Journal, in chronological order, with my Year 1 and Year 2 entries!
In my first two years of keeping a Perpetual Journal I created art and text entries for 108 different subjects! The reason that number is 108 instead of 104 (52 weeks x 2 years) is that in 4 different weeks, I had so much yard excitement I was forced to illustrate two subjects, not just one! 😁
Why I Love Keeping a Perpetual Journal
Keeping a weekly Perpetual Journal is a positive practice for me for many reasons including:
Looking for subjects for my PJ is a great "excuse" to learn more about natural history topics that pique my interest.
It makes me want to look for something new and different in the natural world, each week, that I haven’t featured in my PJ yet.
It’s an excellent nudge for me to create (and finish!) at least one piece of art every week.
I look forward to sharing my Year 3 PJ pages with you this coming year!

it seems like this approach is especially appropriate for capturing both the seasonality and the variation of nature. Great job!
It’s a beauty, Paula. In your unique style that I love. Congrats!
