Gambel's Quail Chicks
This will be a pint-sized post, just like its subject matter š.
One of the many delights of Springtime in the Sonoran Desert is seeing (and hearing!) Gambelās Quail chicks. Boy, are their peeps LOUD!
If youāve watched Gambelās Quail chicks, you know how they run around so fast it can be hard to count them all. The chicks bounce around in every direction like a bunch of ping-pong balls!
Inevitably, weāll see two parent Quails get separated from their chicks by the 15ā high wall we have on one side of our front walkway. Lots of running and peeping ensues until the parents finally figure out that no, their chicks canāt jump or fly that high yet. The parents then rejoin their chicks on the chicksā side of the wall and all is well in Quail-land again as the family runs off together.
