Woo hooāI DID IT!!!!! Every week for the past 52 weeks, I created art and text for my Perpetual Journal*!!! Go me! š
Once again, we hear the trumpet fanfare of success! šŗ Doot, do-do-DOOOOO!
In case youāre not familiar with Perpetual Journals, hereās a brief description.
* Whatās a Perpetual Journal?
A Perpetual Journal is a multi-year art journal in which each page documents 1 week (f.i. Jan. 1-7, Jan. 8-14, etc.). I create art depicting something I observed that week (usuallyānature in my yard), add the date and some text, and leave space on each page for adding more art and text that same week in subsequent years until the pages are filled. Each page will end up having art from multiple years. It's a great way to document changes over time such as those due to climate change.
To celebrate my 1-year milestone, I created 2 different visual representations to show what a year of Perpetual Journal entries looks like. First, hereās a graphic with mini versions of all 52 of my Perpetual Journal Year 1 entries, in chronological order, starting with my first entry of a Cloudless Sulphur larva on Sep. 28, 2022 (for the week of Sep. 24-30) and ending with my latest entry of a Coyote napping on Sep. 22, 2023 (for the week of Sep. 17-23). You can start a Perpetual Journal at any timeāyou donāt have to start on Jan. 1!
Keeping a Perpetual Journal has been sooo fun for me and I definitely plan to continue! As I begin Year 2 of my Perpetual Journal, Iāll be adding new art and text entries to these same pages!
After seeing the above mini versions, I know youāre clamoring š (clamoring, I say!) to see larger versions of theseāso hereās a video of all 52 of my Perpetual Journal Year 1 pages, also in chronological order, shown a lot larger!
For those of you (Iām sure thatās all of you š) who want to see even larger versions and lovingly contemplate each of my Perpetual Journal Year 1 pages š, check out the Perpetual Journal page on my website. That web page has all my Perpetual Journal pages to date, and I update the web page pretty much weekly.
Stay tuned for my first Perpetual Journal Year 2 entry next week!
