First things first!
🎺 Doot, do-do-DOOOOO!
That’s the trumpet fanfare announcing that this is my 100th blog post! 🥳
WOWZER and WOOO HOOO and thank you so much for joining me on this journey! 🥰
Like last week’s Part 1 post, today’s Part 2 post packs in more positivity, including art, nature, and positive music & video recommendations.
🎨 Southwest Smile
Here’s a piece of my art that has a positive vibe to it!
I created this in 2016, after taking some colored pencil classes with an artist known for her photorealistic art style. You can see her influence on my art! After creating a number of photorealistic works of art, I realized that what I really wanted was to create less detailed art, enabling me to create more pieces of art in any given period of time (I’m never at a loss for ideas for art I’d like to create!). That was a valuable realization for me in my art journey—learning to develop a style and process that work for me and make me happy.
🐛 The Q Continuum Continuation
In last week’s post I wrote that we had four Queen Butterfly (“Q”) chrysalises, all on the same Desert Milkweed—the largest number of chrysalises we’ve had all at once! WELL! The excitement continues! We now have seven Queen Butterfly chrysalises, all on that same Desert Milkweed! This one Milkweed has proved so popular with our pupae that Hubby dubbed the plant our “Pupation Station”. 😆
Our seven pupae are nestled in the branches of the Desert Milkweed shown in the photo below. I know they’re a little hard to see so I put a star on each one so you could find them more easily!

I’m very happy to report that larva #8 (in the photo above) did get with the program, and is now in its pre-pupation “J” shape near the cluster of five pupae above on the left. And yes, that’s my voice on the left, continuing to provide our little friends with positive thoughts and words of encouragement! 😍
🎵 Music Notes
I love listening to music throughout the day, and one of my latest discoveries and current favorites is Rudy Adrian, a New Zealand composer who creates atmospheric music influenced by the stunning natural spaces in New Zealand.
I find Adrian’s music relaxing and peaceful without being soporific—perfect for those times when, for example, you’re writing a blog post and don’t want lyrics distracting you.
You can listen to his albums at Spotted Peccary Music and bandcamp, and purchase & download his music from those sites as well. Here are the three albums that Hubby & I own (so far! 😁):
🎬 FilmFlix
If you’re looking for a science-y yet relaxing way to spend half an hour, I recommend watching Space Out: Landsat—a new video from NASA that takes you on a journey around the world, featuring satellite images of the Earth taken with NASA’s Landsat program, accompanied by relaxing music.
Speaking of videos, Hubby & I recently re-watched our favorite movie trilogy, The Lord of the Rings. Every time we watch that we see parallels to contemporary world events—there are unfortunately a number of real-life Saurons and Sarumans. That said, this quote resonated with me this time:
"I do not believe this darkness will endure."
- Faramir, The Return of the King by J.R.R. Tolkien
