One of the joys of keeping a Perpetual Journal is seeing what was happening a year ago compared to what’s happening now, and noting the similarities or differences. Case in point: a year ago my PJ entry featured a sign of Spring: lupine blooming—but the same week in 2024 my PJ entry featured a sign of Winter: snow on the Catalina mountains.
A Time-lapse Video of 🐛 Watney Becoming a Chrysalis!
Last week’s post about Watney, the Death-defying Caterpillar sure was exciting! 😊 Since I only showed the “before” photos (of Watney as a caterpillar) and then the “after” photos (of Watney as a chrysalis), I created this time-lapse video of Watney transforming from a caterpillar into a chrysalis. By the way, you can see more of my videos including Art Process videos on my YouTube Channel.
As a footnote to that—we now have three Queen Butterfly chrysalises on our milkweeds: Big Boy/Go Girl, Watney, and “D” (who pupated this past Sunday!) plus a fourth caterpillar (“E”) who just turned into a chrysalis-precursor “J” shape around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday 2/21/24! “E” may well be a chrysalis by the time you’re reading this! Go go go go!!!
