Last week we had a number (12-25/day, to be exact) of Green Lacewings hanging out on our patio walls and ceiling. I love their bright green color and so one of these became the subject matter for my Perpetual Journal.
Lacewings are beneficial insects (meaning, beneficial to humans) as their larvae eat aphids and other garden pests. Lacewing larvae have been described as voracious predators and are known as "aphid lions".

Substack recently added a new feature: tags. I’m excited about this because tags will help you more easily find the content on my blog that you’re especially interested in.
So what are Substack tags and how do they work? Let’s look first at what Substack tags are not.
As useful as these tags may be, this is not what Substack means by “tags”!
Substack tags
Substack now allows any blog creator (such as myself) to add tags (descriptive keywords) to posts. Since I have fewer than a dozen posts so far, I was able to quickly add tags to all my posts to date.
You’ll find my tags on my blog home page. In the right column, or near the bottom of the home page on mobile, you’ll see my list of tags:
Let’s say you’re a cactus aficionado...clicking/tapping on the “Cactus” tag will take you to a page that looks like the following, which lists and links to every post of mine that I’ve tagged with “Cactus”.
Each time I publish a new blog post and add tags to it, pages like the one pictured here, listing posts with specific tags, will be automatically updated.
What’s your favorite tag on my Tags list?
Now that I have a minute to "chillax" I'm trying to answer your question of my fave tag. Hmmm. If I pick out one, the rest start yelling "me, me, me" and I can't decide over the racket. Actually, I really do love them all. I like the Art Process tag because it reminds me of where this all began. And since that took place at the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum, each of the tags and their images and stories bring me close again to the southwestern desert lands that I have loved so much. So, now, dear tags, you can chillax and stop the yelling and jumping up and down. I love every one of you.
